Hitched
Title: Hitched
Author: Dawn Rae Miller
Date of Publication: April 14, 2015
Genre: contemporary NA romance

Life hasn’t been easy for twenty-three year old Ellie Jacobs since her boyfriend, Fletch, walked out of her life two years earlier. She’s stuck in a consulting job she hates, buried under crushing student loans, and still longing for Fletch despite her best efforts to leave the past behind.

Letting go is hard when everywhere she turns, there’s a reminder of Fletch - from his face on gossip magazines to everyone being obsessed with his company, GroundFloor.

So when Ellie finds herself at a mutual friend’s wedding with Fletch, she decides to grin and bear it for the sake of the bride and groom. But years of anger have piled up, and Ellie doesn’t know if she can last the weekend without going crazy or lashing out.

However, as the wedding weekend progresses, Ellie realizes anger can only take you so far, but love can take you farther.

My Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Thank you to Giselle of Xpresso Book Tours and Dawn Rae Miller for the review copy. Having received one did not affect my views of the novel.

So I read Crushed back in 2012 and in fact, it was one of the first novels I reviewed for the blog and Dawn Rae Miller one of the first authors I featured. So of course, when I serendipitously saw that there's a companion novel set five years later the events of Crushed, I knew I had to read it. Crushed was in Fletch's POV and this is in Ellie's! So if you're asking me if you can still read this one without having read Crushed, you can! It stands as its own story although people who have read Crushed might appreciate it more. Well, those who can remember the story. Because honestly? I was a bit lost too! Years have passed since I read it and I couldn't remember much.

This was a quick read but like Crushed, I don't think I'll be able to remember it after some time. I liked how Fletch and Ellie ended up breaking up and that we picked up years later with them still harboring feelings for each other. So, we all know that it's gonna be a HEA, but still, the journey there was worth it.

I'll be honest with you, this is more like a 2.5 star read for me. I wasn't a big fan of the writing (even more than Crushed which was a bit here and there) and the plot was IS THIS REALLY GOING TO HAPPEN? CAN IT NOT? towards the end but I don't know, I think I have a misplaced sense of solidarity and loyalty to it and the characters since I've read Crushed. Besides it didn't irk me like my other 2-star reads because I like how Ellie and Fletch had to deal with everything before getting there. Having to get a wee bit drunk to loosen up and tell each other what they think, all the angst and drama, I liked those!

Still recommending this one for contemporary NA romance fans!

Oh, I love the cover so much. It's just sad when the book's cover don't go with what's inside. *Sigh.*

    1. I admit though, the covers for both Crushed and Hitched are A+. Thanks for checking out my review, Yani!

By the way, this is an awards-free blog. I appreciate it though, really. :D
