Theme Song

Like I said in my review, I've read this a little bit over a year ago, last December 2013. And even then, I instantly connected this song to The Fault in Our Stars. This song equals SCAR by Cloud Control.

There's this quote from the book that hit me home and it was:
“The marks humans leave are too often scars.”
There was no way I could have disassociated this song from the book at that point. Plus, the lyrics fit all too well. The first verse could be Hazel saying that there's still a hope in my heart that somehow they'll never die but that they both know that Hazel will most likely be gone, what with her recurring symptoms.

I've got a lump in my throat from letting you in my mind
There's still a hope in my heart that somehow we'll never die
I hate to break apart your life this early on
But when the morning light arrives, I'll be gone

Then the chorus says that "I want a scar" because both Hazel and Augustus want each other to mark their life.

Then the second verse can be Augustus telling Hazel near the end of the book that he'll be gone.

Check out the song and its lyrics below!

I've got a lump in my throat from letting you in my mind
There's still a hope in my heart that somehow we'll never die
I hate to break apart your life this early on
But when the morning light arrives, I'll be gone

It's just so hard
Even if I try
I will not lie
I want a scar
Look at you so fly
Make me high

I've got a lump in my throat from hearing you ask me why
There's still a hope in my heart that somehow we'll stay alive
I hate to break apart your heart this early on
But when the morning light arrives, I'll be gone

It's just so hard
Even if I try
I will not lie
I want a scar
Look at you so fly

My hands are tied, I can't deny
The way I feel
My hands are tied, I can't decide
The way I feel
My hands are tied, I can't deny
The way I feel, no

It's just so hard
Even if I try
I will not lie
I want a scar
Look at you so fly
Make me high
