Title: Savor (Vicious Feast #1)
Author: Kate Evangelista
Publisher: Crescent Moon Press
Date of Publication: December 2, 2013
Genre: paranormal NA romance
I’m Dakota Collins, a tough talking, eye patch wearing, workaholic photography student. Why am I important? Well, maybe because I get to spend an entire month with Vicious, only the sickest indie rock band out there.
You see, I needed a subject for my Spring Showcase introspective in order to graduate. During a chance encounter at a club I’d been sent to cover for the Daily Gossip, our ironically named college paper, the features writer I usually teamed up with introduced me to the band—by accident, I might add. It involved a run in with a scary, bald bodyguard. Anyway, long story short, I signed a contract to take pictures of Vicious.
I should have known their handsome yet way too serious for his own good bassist, Luka Visraya, wouldn't be able to keep his hands to himself. He’s gorgeous and all, but the way he smiles spelled trouble with a capital L. I’m in for a long month with him around.
Crazy shit happens and then some. So, if you want the skinny on Vicious and the events revolving around my stay at Lunar Manor, read my story.
**Mature and explicit content. Not recommended for readers below 18-years-old.
This is probably the hardest playlist I've made so far. You know that I rely on lyrics in picking songs apt for the book but with the gothic and paranormal feel of Savor, I just felt like I need to choose songs that will still give the feel of eerieness and mystery in SAVOR. I also included key lyrics and the reason why I chose the song.
And I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles, It's a very, very mad world mad world
This song's lyrics doesn't match the book perfectly but I think it can set the tone for the novel - haunting. Coupled that with Niia's voice, goosebumps. Plus, the world of Vicious is certainly dark and mad.
Who's gonna love
Yeah, who's gonna love me, really now
This is Dakota's song. Having an eye patch has made her jaded that no one will love her. And once again, SoSo's voice fits the feel of the novel.
Someone save me, I am fragile
Oh somebody rescue me, Oh somebody tell me you will
This is Luka's song. He's fragile and he's in a place and time where he just can't deal.
Write a song, make a note
for the lump that sits inside your throat
Change the locks, change the scene
Change it all but can't change what we've been
Your trojan's in my head
This is THE song for everyone who's trying to move on but can't aka this can also be Luka's song. I won't spoil you on who he's moving on from but I love this song so it must be in here. Haha! And I also chose the acoustic version because it's slower and a better fit with Savor.
I won't include the lyrics to this song because I'm only adding it because of its feel.
Lastly, here's one of my all-time favorite songs. The lyrics of this song is for sirens or mermaids but they're paranormal too! And Savor is a paranormal novel and honestly, this is the song with the most haunting vocals and eerie tune.
So that's it! Hope you like the songs!
About Kate Evangelista
When Kate Evangelista was told she had a knack for writing stories, she did the next best thing: entered medical school. After realizing she wasn't going to be the next Doogie Howser, M.D., Kate wandered into the Literature department of her university and never looked back. Today, she is in possession of a piece of paper that says to the world she owns a Literature degree. To make matters worse, she took Master's courses in creative writing. In the end, she realized to be a writer, none of what she had mattered. What really mattered? Writing. Plain and simple, honest to God, sitting in front of her computer, writing. Today, she lives in the Philippines and writes full time.
