Wednesday, February 5, 2014

So if you don't know yet, you SHOULD know that I loved Heartbeat by Elizabeth Scott. So when I got the chance to interview Caleb Harrison, a character in Heartbeat, trust me that there has been squealing and jumping involved. Check out my interview with the aloof Caleb and get a chance to win an epic prize!

Heartbeat
Title: Heartbeat
Author: Elizabeth Scott
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Date of Publication: January 28, 2014

Emma would give anything to talk to her mother one last time. Tell her about her slipping grades, her anger with her stepfather, and the boy with the bad reputation who might be the only one Emma can be herself with.

But Emma can't tell her mother anything. Because her mother is brain-dead and being kept alive by machines for the baby growing inside her.

Meeting bad-boy Caleb Harrison wouldn't have interested Old Emma. But New Emma-the one who exists in a fog of grief, who no longer cares about school, whose only social outlet is her best friend Olivia-New Emma is startled by the connection she and Caleb forge.

Feeling her own heart beat again wakes Emma from the grief that has grayed her existence. Is there hope for life after death-and maybe, for love?

Character Interview with Caleb Harrison

Can you tell us something about yourself?

Sure. You suck, and I know it.

What are your hobbies? How do you spend your free time?

I give blood. And then I drink it, because I'm a vampire. These are your questions? Really?

How and where did you learn how to steal cars?

Well, I--yeah, no. Narc.

What was your fondest memory of your sister Millie?

I don't want to talk about Millie. How do you even know about her?

How would you describe your ideal girl/woman?

I have no idea. Someone who doesn't hate me would be nice.

What was your first impression of Emma?

Hi, I know everything! And then her mom died and she was...I don't know. Different and I got it. How she felt.

Favorite movie?

Fast and the Furious. (Actually, it's this movie called The Lookout. I feel like that guy a lot. Like I fucked up and am paying for it. Only not like he does.)

Favorite book?

Animal Farm

Favorite quote?

You have the right to remain silent. (It's kind of hard to take this seriously because who has a favorite quote? Try that ass, Anthony. I bet he has pages of them)

If you could have three wishes, what would it be?

1. Not to be who I am.

2. To make sure Emma doesn't meet my parents.
3. Well, that happened, and she's....she's still here. No more wishes needed. But thanks.

Any message to our dear readers?

Yeah. Leah, okay, I get it, you own the school because you're you, but stop saying that Emma's a bitch. Her mom's dead and her stepfather didn't even talk to her about what he did. Sorry she has feelings. I thought people were allowed to have them.

Any message for Emma?

Thank you.

EEEEPPP you guys! I think the interview really showed Caleb's prickly outside and his tortured and damaged inside. And then his favorite movie is The Lookout and that is such a great movie in my opinion. (Plus, it has Joseph Gordon-Levitt.) You should go watch it, folks! And then his answer to the last question? I HEART YOU CALEB.

About Elizabeth Scott

ELIZABETH SCOTT grew up in a town so small it didn’t even have a post office, though it did boast an impressive cattle population. She’s sold hardware and panty hose and had a memorable three-day stint in the dot-com industry, where she learned that she really didn’t want a career burning CDs. She lives just outside Washington, D.C., with her husband, and firmly believes you can never own too many books.
