Two Boys Kissing
Title: Two Boys Kissing
Author: David Levithan
Publisher: Knopf Books for Young Readers
Date of Publication: August 27, 2013
New York Times bestselling author David Levithan tells the based-on-true-events story of Harry and Craig, two 17-year-olds who are about to take part in a 32-hour marathon of kissing to set a new Guinness World Record—all of which is narrated by a Greek Chorus of the generation of gay men lost to AIDS.
While the two increasingly dehydrated and sleep-deprived boys are locking lips, they become a focal point in the lives of other teen boys dealing with languishing long-term relationships, coming out, navigating gender identity, and falling deeper into the digital rabbit hole of gay hookup sites—all while the kissing former couple tries to figure out their own feelings for each other.

Even though I don't show it, I like pimping songs to people. Either by forcing them to go listen or well, that's my only modus operandi. And because I can't possibly make a playlist for every book I've ever read, I'm starting this theme song thing where I share a song that I think can be the duh, theme song to a book! First up is TWO BOYS KISSING by David Levithan! You can check out my review and read how much I gushed and cried about this book.
So my theme song for TWO BOYS KISSING is Young Blood by The Naked and Famous because just read the lyrics. I think TBK had that bittersweet feel of teenage love (not even the romantic kind only but also familial love, generational love, friendship, guidance, EVERYTHING) which is what I got  from Young Blood. The uncertainty, the fears and also the headstrong approach. I'm sure it can apply to so many books but TWO BOYS KISSING is special to me that I will be giving one of my favorite songs to it. YEAP. So, go listen to it and check out the lyrics!

We're only young and naive still
We require certain skills
The mood it changes like the wind
Hard to control when it begins

The bittersweet between my teeth
Trying to find the in-betweens
Fall back in love eventually
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

Can't help myself but count the flaws
Claw my way out through these walls
One temporary escape
Feel it start to permeate

We lie beneath the stars at night
Our hands gripping each other tight
You keep my secrets hope to die
Promises, swear them to the sky

The bittersweet between my teeth
Trying to find the in-betweens
Fall back in love eventually
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

As it withers
Brittle it shakes
Can you whisper
As it crumbles and breaks
As you shiver
Count up all your mistakes
Pair of forgivers
Let go before it's too late
Can you whisper
Can you whisper
Can you whisper
Can you whisper

The bittersweet between my teeth
Trying to find the in-betweens
Fall back in love eventually
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
The bittersweet between my teeth
Trying to find the in-betweens
Fall back in love eventually
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

  1. It's not the plot that makes me want to read this book since you know that I'm kind of iffy for Levithan's books...it's the lyrics of Young Blood. Ugh, sarcastic thank you for adding another book to my HUGE tbr pile :|
